Multifunctional unit – MZ

A modern solution for wastewater pretreatment Pre-treatment

Multifunctional unit for municipal and industrial applications

  • wastewater pretreatment at WWTPs
  • wastewater pretreatment from industry

Combined pretreatment consists of grit and heavy solids removal, screening, screenings pressing and optionally grease capture and removal.

Compared with competing units, the IN-EKO TEAM multifunctional unit is more compact and can therefore also be used in projects with limited space. This reduces implementation costs.

Aplikace

MZ_I

A unit with one conveyor shared for screenings and grit-laden sediments. An economically and spatially advantageous option.

MZ_II

A unit with two discharge screws. One for screenings, the other for captured sediments with grit. A more sophisticated and, compared with MZ_I, more space-demanding option with the possibility of aeration and grease capture.

Benefits of the IN-EKO TEAM solution

  • small installation footprint
  • integrated emergency screen bypass
  • high efficiency
  • the screen design in both MZ_I and MZ_II extends the service life of the cleaning brushes,
  • resulting in significant savings on consumables
  • modification options for specific projects
  • patented Bar screen technology is ideal for removing problematic nonwoven textiles
  • integrates various functions of a conventional mechanical treatment stage (5-in-1)
  • option for pumped or gravity inflow
  • aeration with grease capture in MZ_II
  • remote monitoring – Industry 4.0

Screen for MZ_I and MZ_II

The functional element of these two variants of the multifunctional unit is the patented and very popular Circular Bar screen, which ensures high throughput while maintaining a small installation footprint, easy cleaning and resistance to clogging, especially by fibrous materials, as well as trouble-free removal of nonwoven textiles.

Design of the Multifunctional unit

Thanks to their design, both variants provide an integrated screen bypass compared with conventional systems, as well as savings in space and installation height.

Special screening system

The design of the Bar screen enables easy, efficient and fast cleaning. As a result, the service life of the cleaning brushes is significantly extended and the energy consumption of operation is reduced.
At the inlet of the Multifunctional unit, a Straight Screw screen can be used for flow rates up to 90 l/s. For higher flow rates, a Belt screen is used as standard.

Smarter operation through innovation

In cooperation with our partners, we develop solutions that reduce environmental impact – from energy-efficient components to digitalized operation and remote equipment monitoring.

Sustainability as a foundation

From design to operation, our technologies are developed to save resources, energy and space. This is not a passing trend – sustainability is a natural part of every unit we develop.

Our goal is to ensure clean water for future generations.

How does the Multifunctional unit work?

The MZ_I type is intended for treatment plants where it is not economically advantageous to separate screenings and gravel with grit into separate containers.

Wastewater flows into the rear part of the tank, where the inlet is suitably shaped to distribute it across the full width of the tank. As the wastewater flows through the tank, gravel and grit settle out.

Wastewater free of heavy solids passes through the fine screen and flows out by gravity. Screenings captured on the screen are raked off and fall by gravity into the space behind the screen, where they are washed with service water. Captured coarse impurities (gravel, grit and screenings) are conveyed together by a screw conveyor to the discharge point of the unit, from where they fall into a prepared container or bin.

The screenings dewatering device is located on the casing (tube) of the screw conveyor. Here, the conveyed material is compressed. Released water drains through openings in the conveyor casing and along the inner side of the cover back into the unit. The cover of the dewatering section is equipped with nozzles that spray the internal space of the cover at programmed intervals and prevent clogging of the cover and return hose. The unit is equipped with an integrated fine-screen bypass which, in the event of a power outage or a fault on the fine screen, ensures the passage of flow through the unit. Grit and gravel capture is also ensured when flow passes through the integrated bypass.

MZ_II type is intended for treatment plants where separation of gravel and grit into one container and municipal screenings into another container is required. The operating principle of the unit is similar to that of the previous MZ_I type.

Wastewater flows from the side into the front part of the tank, where the inlet is suitably shaped to distribute it across the full width of the tank. As the wastewater flows through the tank, gravel and grit settle out. Wastewater free of heavy solids passes through the fine screen and flows out by gravity. Screenings captured on the screen are raked off and fall by gravity into the space behind the screen, where they are washed with service water. Captured heavy impurities (gravel and grit) are conveyed together by one screw conveyor to the first discharge point, from where they fall into a prepared container. Captured screenings are conveyed separately by a screw conveyor to the second discharge point, from where they fall into a prepared container or bin.

A sand washer is also integrated.

Clean water is no coincidence.
It is technology.
