Vertical Bar screens for municipal and industrial applications

The screens can be installed wherever, due to layout constraints, there is not enough space for installation of conventional screen types or where the sewer is laid at great depth – in such cases the screens ensure protection of pumps in the pumping station.

Vertical Bar screens are the ideal automated replacement for outdated basket screens.

Vertical Bar screens can generally be used for more heavily polluted wastewater than standard screw screen types. They are also suitable for water containing fibrous material and non-woven textiles.

Screenings

In the vertical screw, screenings are partially dewatered thanks to gravity and the logic of screw conveyor operation.

Automatic screen operation

Automatic screen operation is ensured by a level probe, which gives an impulse for cleaning the bar basket in combination with time switching.

How do Vertical Bar screens work?

Wastewater flows onto the bar screen, where incoming screenings are captured. These cause the water level to rise. After the start-up level is reached, the probe sends a signal to start the cleaning process. The screenings are swept from the patented bar basket into the vertical screw conveyor. It transports them to the discharge area, from where they fall into a screenings collection vessel, bin, container, etc. During their transport by the vertical screw conveyor, the screenings are partially dewatered thanks to gravity and the logic of screen operation.
