DAF Rectangular

Highly efficient and economical solution for wastewater pre-treatment Flotation

The flotation unit is intended for the removal of TSS, fats, and oils that cannot be separated by conventional methods. Flotation is also suitable for sludge thickening and is used in both municipal WWTPs and industry, especially the paper, textile, food, and petrochemical industries.

For this type of flotation unit, we also offer a containerized solution.

DAF Rectangular for municipal applications

Flotation is one of the most effective modern methods for separating fine suspended solids, fats, oils, and colloidal particles from water. Thanks to its high efficiency, compact design, and stable operation, it is now one of the most sought-after solutions for municipal wastewater treatment plants, industry, and special applications.

Flotation is the ideal solution for applications where very high pre-treatment or polishing efficiency is required. It is particularly suitable

  • for removing fats, oils, and floating matter at the inlet,
  • as a tertiary or quaternary stage – to achieve strict COD, BOD, TSS, and phosphorus limits,
  • in biological treatment systems with high loading – where it relieves the biological line and stabilizes operation,
  • for small and medium-sized WWTPs – where it replaces several units at once thanks to its compact design

Flotation helps meet even the strictest discharge water quality standards, minimizes operating costs, and provides fast separation even with fluctuating influent quality.

Aplikace

DAF Rectangular for industrial applications

In industry, flotation is one of the most effective technologies for the pre-treatment of process and wastewater, especially where other methods fail. It is mainly used in sectors with high TSS, FOG (fats, oils and grease), and organic loading:

  • food industry – dairies, slaughterhouses, meat processing, fish farms, snack production, starch plants,
  • beverage industry – breweries, wineries, soft drink plants,
  • chemical and petrochemical industry – removal of oils, emulsions, and fine suspensions,
  • automotive, engineering, metal industry – separation of oils, emulsions, and fine metal particles,
  • textile and paper industry – capture of fibers, fillers, dyes, and colloidal substances,
  • glass fiber production, pharmaceutical production, tanneries

Flotation is in demand here for its ability to significantly reduce operating costs, stabilize downstream treatment stages, and meet even very strict discharge limits.

Expected pollution reduction

COD 65–75 %

BOD5 * 65–75 %

TSS 80–95 %

EL 80–95 %

FOG 80–95 %

* BOD5 and COD removal depends on the type of wastewater

We will be happy to customize the flotation unit to your needs. We can design a classic free-standing solution or a containerized solution according to your project requirements. The equipment is ready for operation immediately after installation.

How does the DAF Rectangular work?

The flotator is a separation unit. Raw water containing suspended solids is mixed in the mixing pipe with any chemicals used (flocculant, coagulant) and then flows into the flotation tank, where microbubbles of air supplied from the saturation pipe bind to the impurities and float them together to the surface, where they form flotation foam. Water is gradually displaced downward from the foam. A skimming device is placed above the surface and continuously removes the top foam layer and transfers it to the sludge trough, from where it is discharged by gravity or by a sludge pump. A level probe located in the outlet trough controls the minimum water level in the flotator.

Clean water is no coincidence.
It is technology.
